Families of 14 Assam Victims in Arunachal Tragedy to Receive ₹2 Lakh Aid from PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his concern after 14 people from Assam lost their lives in a road mishap in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district. He posted on X that his thoughts were with the affected families and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured. He also announced ₹2 lakh support for the families and ₹50,000 for those injured. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed similar sentiments and confirmed that all 14 individuals were from Tinsukia district.

He said that search teams were working actively as seven passengers were still missing. Medical support has been arranged for those who need it. The mishap occurred on the Hayuliang–Chaglagam Road when a truck carrying passengers slipped into a gorge. Search and rescue teams reached the location soon after they were alerted. Tinsukia DC Swapneel Paul said that coordination with Arunachal authorities was ongoing and confirmed that 14 individuals had been recovered, along with one survivor. Minister Bimal Bora has arrived at the location for further assessment.
