Compared to emissions produced by producing the same amount of energy from coal-based thermal power plants, the government of India’s nuclear power industry saves 41 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year, Union Minister Jitendra Singh told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
According to Singh’s written response, the administration is looking into giving nuclear power a much larger role as part of the development of low-carbon electrical networks that are consistent with improved development benefits.
According to Singh, nuclear power now generates 3% of the nation’s total electricity, and sufficient development and use of atomic energy is necessary to guarantee the security of the nation’s energy supply.
