Education Must Go Hand in Hand with Cultural Preservation, Says Arunachal Deputy CM

At the ceremonial opening of a new dormitory building at the Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Residential School in Chongkham, Namasi district, Arunachal Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Chown Mein emphasized the critical role of education, advocating for its integration with the preservation of cultural and linguistic heritage. He highlighted the necessity of digitizing and restoring rare manuscripts housed in the museum, which are deemed vital to the state’s historical legacy. Mein reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing the teaching of Pali and Tai Khamti languages, acknowledging their significance in the local culture.

Mein articulated the benefits of the newly inaugurated 60-bed dormitory for students, particularly given the limited boarding options available and the community’s aspirations for quality education for their children. He expressed gratitude towards the RWD team and the Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Society for the successful execution of this infrastructure initiative, and committed to further supporting development efforts, including plans for expanding hostel capacities.

Additionally, the deputy chief minister participated in a coordination conference focused on delineating the boundaries of the Namsai Nagar Palika. With Namsai’s rapid progression towards becoming an urban center, Mein underscored the urgency of enhancing basic civic amenities such as roads, sanitation, water supply, street lighting, and market facilities. He called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in transforming Namsai into a model town, thereby ensuring sustainable urban development that meets the needs of its growing population.
