Adding to its fleet an aircraft known worldwide for its low operating costs and excellent fuel efficiency, Bhutan’s national carrier Drukair has taken delivery of its first A320neo. Now, Drukair has become the world’s latest A320neo customer. Powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, Drukair’sA320neo features large, fuel-saving wingtip devices known as Sharklets. The aircraft will feature a 2-class cabin layout with 140 seats, reflecting the latest trends in air travel industry, offering passengers greater level of comfort and an enhanced travel experience. The current aircraft fleet of Drukair comprises three A319s and one ATR 42-600.
Anand Stanley, President & MD, Airbus India & South Asia said, with the A320neo, Durkair will be able to achieve a double-digit improvement in fuel-efficiency and increased operational reliability. Tandi Wangchuk, Chief Operating Officer, Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines said, the delivery of the A320neo is an important milestone in Drukair’s 37-year-old journey as it reiterates Drukair’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of service to its passengers. The Kingdom of Bhutan is a carbon negative nation. So, the A320neo is a perfect fit with its significant environmental benefits, he added.
