Drugs destroyed in Nagaland worth Rs 44.5 crore

On Thursday, at the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site in Meriema, drugs and psychotropic substances valued at over Rs. 44.53 crore were destroyed by the Drug Disposal Committee, which is part of the IGP (CID) Police Headquarters. Among the goods taken by the Narcotics Cell police station were a sizable amount of drugs that had been taken between 2022 and 2023. They consist of 25 packages of Yaba tablets (a total of 249,400 tablets), 44 packets of opium (weighing 41 kg 30 gm 94 mg), and 500 soap cases of heroin (a total of 5 kg 729.68 gm).

The items were destroyed in the presence of officials including DIG (CID) Dr. K.P.A. Ilyas; SP (Narcotic) Shinde Suresh Kailashrao; SP (Crime) Dr. Mhalo; Dy. SP (Crime) Joy Zeliang and officials from the District Court, Kohima Municipal Council, and Kripa Foundation, among others.
