DoNER Secretary Reviews Heritage Centre Project in Mizoram

Secretary of the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Chanchal Kumar, conducted an inspection of the under-construction Cultural Heritage Centre at Kawlri Tlang, located in Mizoram’s Serchhip district. This center is part of an initiative led by Mizoram’s Chief Minister Lalduhoma, the MLA for Serchhip. The project, funded by the Northeastern Council (NEC), commenced in September 2024 and is expected to be completed soon. The total expenditure on the project is Rs 4.31 crore, with construction being managed by Excell Consultancy Services under the Public Works Department (PWD). Currently, 65 percent of the construction has been finished. During his visit, the DoNER Secretary thoroughly assessed the site and urged the contractor to expedite the progress. He reaffirmed that funding from the Ministry is secure and proposed the addition of a trekking route to the project’s scope. Accompanying the DoNER Secretary were UD&PA Secretary Lalmalsawma, Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L Khuma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrinzuala, and various other officials.
