Dev Diwali was celebrated with great pomp in Kashi, the world’s oldest religious city. The Uttar Pradesh government illuminated the ghats with 12 lakh lamps, decorated the Baba Vishwanath temple with 11 tonnes of flowers, and organized a grand laser show at the Ganga gate of Srikashi Vishwanath Dham. Over 8 lakh tourists from India and abroad participated in the event.
Hotels, guest houses, boats, barges, yachts, and cruises were sold out for the event. A laser show was organized on historical buildings along the ghats, displaying the story of the oldest Sanatan Dharma. Speakers were installed on the ghats for Lord Shiva’s hymns.
Safety measures were made for tourists, with NDRF teams, medical teams, and a water ambulance available for free treatment. The ghats were monitored from watch towers, and doctors were kept on alert by reserving beds in hospitals. 15 days after Diwali, the Diwali of Gods is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, believed to bring gods from heaven in invisible form to the holy Ganga ghats of Kashi and pave the way for salvation for devotees participating in the Maha Aarti.
