With the rise in Covid cases and positivity rates in Delhi, district officials have started forming teams to strictly enforce the mask order and issue a fine of Rs 500 to violators.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) noted that as per an order issued by the South Delhi district, the positive rate of COVID-19 infections has increased in Delhi over the past fortnight.
“The DDMA after examining all relevant information regarding the issue of penal provisions for non-compliance with the Covid protocol of wearing masks in public places has decided that, in relation to section 3(h) (c) where non-wearing of masks. Masks/covers have been made an offense in all public places, with a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing face masks/covers in all public places in Delhi,” the order said.
It said the fine will not affect persons who are traveling together in private four-wheelers.
The District Magistrate of South Delhi has formed three teams to enforce the wearing of masks in public places.
