Curfew In Areas Of Ranchi After Protests Over Prophet Comments

A curfew has been imposed in some areas of Ranchi after some policemen were injured today while attempting to manipulate an irate mob near Hanuman Temple. Hundreds of protesters are ordering the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad, police said.
Police fired in the air and took to lathi-charge to manipulate the mob after they threw stones at the protection personnel. The protest started after the Friday prayers.

“Few policemen have been injured. We are looking into the situation. We are reinforcing deployment,” a senior police legit informed PTI.

A large crowd of human beings gathered on Ranchi’s Main Road shouting slogans against Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, former head of the Delhi BJP’s media unit.

Heavy safety deployment has been made to manage the situation and keep away from any untoward incident.

According to police officials, the protest have been persevering with for the reason that morning and picked up tempo post-Friday prayers. Many shops and businesses saved their shutters down in protest in opposition to the remarks.

The protesters demanded the immediately arrest of Nupur Sharma.

“More than 1,100 stores in the market were shut considering that morning in protest against remarks of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal. We demand their on the spot arrest,” New Daily Market Traders Welfare Association President Haji Md Hasim advised PTI.

Mr Hasim stated they desired a peaceable procession however police did not supply permission. “So we are protesting peacefully backyard our retail outlets here,” he said.

The row over the remarks in opposition to Prophet Muhammad escalated on Sunday with protests from nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Iran, prompting the BJP to take action against its functionaries and assert that it respects all religions.
