Congress writes to minorities’ panel to probe madrasa demolition

on Tuesday Congress leaders of Assam wrote to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) urging them to investigate the demolition of a madrasa in Assam’s Bongaigaon area and ensure justice for the 224 students of this madrasa.

The Congress legislators in their letter mentioned that the district administration did not give enough time to the 224 students of the madrassa, most of whom were minors, to vacate the premises.

They have alleged in the letter that this is an act of inhumanity towards these students and such illegal action has deprived them of their right to education. Madrasa had received permission from the panchayat for its construction is added to the letter.

The Congress leaders in their letter claimed that “The arrested teacher has already been suspended and the madrasa management has fully cooperated with the investigating agencies as they have scanned the entire campus but no incriminating documents were found on the premises during the agency’s search. “
