After child marriage crackdown, now Assam Government aims to ban polygamy and the government will soon form members to get processed.
A Congress MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal came out in support of the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to end polygamy in Assam.
MLA, Abdur Rashid Mandal said, “Polygamy should be banned. The Assam government has taken a good decision and I welcome this.”
The MLA also pointed out that Assam Government should not target any particular community in the decision.
However, the Chief Minister has already cited about not targeting any particular community, earlier. But only for those who practice polygamy in the state.
