Comedian Rajpal Yadav: I have stayed away from OTT for five years because of abusive language and nudity

Rajpal Yadav, beloved by his followers for his comedic stints in many hit movies like Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, Chup Chup Ke, has stayed away from the web. His current short film, Ardha is an exception.

We ask him why, when almost everyone in showbiz is working on web projects. He said, “I recently did an internet series and am shooting for another one. Then three more lined up. My idea of a web mission is that it needs to be important but enjoyable at the same time.”

But the 51-year-old, recently seen in hit Bhool Bhulaiya 2, added a condition: “People should be able to watch it with their families”. He elaborates that he is not interested in offering anything that carries profanity or nudity. “The purpose is that I’ve been away from OTT for 5 years now, and haven’t been a part of anything. Main OTT ki bouhaut izzat karta hun. Kaala Jitni Bikhrati Hai, Utani Nikhrati Hai. 70mm aur tv k bich me ek ye concept aya, lekin usme vi do raste hai. Either you can sit alone to watch it, or you can watch it with your whole family,” says Yadav.

This is what he keeps in mind when he signs on the web. “Is baat ka special meditation rakhi ki kosish kar raha hun, ki jo vi show ho, family worried, oh unhe entertain kar sake. Baki gali galoch ki internet collection hai, principal unka virodhi nahi hoon. It has an audience to watch. There is no right or wrong when it comes to art,” he argues.
