CM Shivraj Chouhan’s statement on Ayushman Bharat scheme

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has warned 27 hospitals that have committed the Ayushman Bharat Yojana scam.

In a meeting to review the health scheme on Thursday, the Chief Minister said any scam in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will not be tolerated and those involved in irregularities should be sent to jail.

“I will not allow any scam in the scheme. It amounts to cheating the patient and the government. Those involved in this (irregularities) should be arrested and their other activities investigated,” Chauhan said.

He asked the health department to form a panel to examine private hospitals. And with that, he warned that money should not be paid from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

The NHM director said that some hospitals have shown fake admissions and uploaded fake claims on the portal to claim benefits under the scheme.

Authorities registered FIRs and appropriate action has been taken in this type of cases. The process of accrediting these hospitals under the scheme has also been initiated, he said, adding that penalties have been imposed on hospitals overcharging patients.
