CM Assures Accelerated Growth and Infrastructure Development in Arunachal Frontier Areas

Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the Tsari Taksing Gajang Shedup Dargeyling Monastery in Taksing, Upper Subansiri district, an event of great significance for the village, located near the Tibet–China border. The inauguration, which drew a substantial crowd, underscored the government’s commitment to improving development, connectivity, and livelihood opportunities in frontier areas. Khandu acknowledged the efforts of the Nah Welfare Society and local leaders in successfully organizing the event despite logistical hurdles.

Khandu reported that more than 40 developmental projects, including inaugurations and foundation stone layings, were executed in the Nacho Assembly constituency, highlighting the rapid infrastructure growth in the district. He attributed the transformative changes in Arunachal Pradesh over the past ten years to collaborative efforts among the state government, local representatives, officials, and central agencies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister emphasized that connectivity is crucial for development, noting that Taksing was previously accessible only by helicopter due to a lack of roads until road access was established in 2019. This achievement was made possible through partnership with the Government of India and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), facilitating socio-economic growth in the area. He also referred to the Trans-Arunachal Highway, a significant 1,800-km corridor stretching from Tawang to Longding, as a game-changing project that has dramatically reduced travel times from over 12 hours to around five hours.

Additionally, Khandu discussed the Frontier Highway, a strategically approved initiative for border road development, informing the public that tendering for various segments in the Upper Subansiri district is currently underway and calling for support for its execution. He reiterated his firm stance against corruption, warning against delays or irregularities in land compensation and project execution, as such issues undermine public interest. Khandu cited actions taken against irregularities related to the Trans-Arunachal Highway, stressing the need for accountability.

Moreover, he highlighted the Vibrant Villages Programme initiated in 2021 which is designed to enhance development through better infrastructure and livelihood opportunities in border regions. Khandu underscored the necessity of a coordinated strategy involving civil administration, the Indian Army, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to develop sustainable models in these remote villages.
