The Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Forest Department, and an executive magistrate carried out a joint operation in the T. Lhanghoimol region of Churachandpur district in an attempt to stop the production of illegal drugs. Seven acres of poppies were destroyed as a result of the operation. According to authorities, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in connection with the case. The people who are growing the illegal crop are being sought out and prosecuted.
The Assam Rifles, meanwhile, effectively located and destroyed 354 acres of illegal poppy fields on December 14, continuing their resolute campaign against the threat posed by poppy cultivation along the Indo-Myanmar border. These activities were conducted in the districts of Chandel, Churachandpur, and Ukhrul. By destroying poppy fields and targeting the narcotrade’s foundations, the Assam Rifles have demonstrated their dedication to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur and beyond.
In a related incident, on December 23, security personnel demolished 22 acres of poppies in the Kangpokpi district. Five acres of poppy fields in Kotlen and seventeen acres in Holjang, which are situated along IT Road, were the objective of the operation. The joint operation, which was executed by the A/155 CRPF, E/112 CRPF, and Kangpokpi District Police, demonstrated the cooperation between local law enforcement and central security forces in the region’s continuous battle against the illegal drug trade.
