Christians across Mizoram observed Good Friday with deep reverence, participating in solemn rituals and spiritual gatherings to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Churches across denominations held special services, processions, and symbolic acts of faith. Presbyterian congregations reflected on themes such as “Judgment on Jesus” and “Life Forsaking God” during their morning and afternoon services. These teachings drew large numbers of worshippers, maintaining the state’s strong tradition of Good Friday observance.
The Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM) centred its message on Mark 15:3 — “He heals others, but cannot heal himself” — focusing on Christ’s suffering and sacrifice. Believers spent the day in prayer and contemplation.The United Pentecostal Church and the Salvation Army offered congregational flexibility, with individual churches conducting unique forms of observance.
In Aizawl, Catholic communities marked the day with fasting, public Cross processions, Cross worship, and Holy Mass, reflecting deeply on Christ’s passion. Many parishes also engaged in outreach ministries. On Maundy Thursday, churches held Holy Eucharist and Kesil Services, where priests washed the feet of twelve members, symbolizing Christ’s humility.
