Chowna Mein inaugurates key infrastructure projects in Lohit district

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein launched a number of historic infrastructure initiatives in the Lohit district to increase connectivity, encourage travel, and preserve the area’s natural and cultural legacy. During his visit to the Kamlang Tiger Reserve, Mein spoke with the forest department about a plan to designate the reserve as a Ramsar Site, which is a designation made by the Ramsar Convention to recognize wetlands of global significance. The Arunachal Pradesh government’s dedication to preserving the state’s biodiversity and environmental legacy for future generations is demonstrated by this project.

As part of this, Mein celebrated the start of the Parshuram Kund Mela-2025 by opening the Tulow Resort and a newly built guest house in Parshuram Kund. These would cater to the increasing number of pilgrims and visitors who come to this hallowed location. Mein underlined that with plans to establish Parshuram Kund as a significant pilgrimage site, such activities would not only popularize the tourism industry but also ignite the local economy. Mein also opened a steel bridge at Sena Brai and the Glaw Lake Road.

He believed that when Glaw Lake was being developed as a trekking destination, the natural vegetation and animal corridor shouldn’t be harmed. He pledged to increase staffing and supply the tools needed to conduct effective policing when he opened the new Wakro police station. Alongside the deputy chief minister, several local politicians, including Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao and lawmaker Dr. Mohesh Chai, attended the inauguration festivities.
