Cairn Oil & Gas, a subsidiary of Vedanta Group and India’s leading private oil and gas producer, is accelerating efforts to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030. Over the past four years, the company has cut potential gas flaring by 60% and developed 2,835 acres of greenbelt, including 458 acres of mangroves.
As part of its Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) roadmap, Cairn is focusing on renewable energy and carbon reduction technologies. The company plans to source up to 70 MW of renewable energy by 2030, starting with a 25 MW renewable Power Delivery Agreement in FY25. Additional initiatives include waste-to-energy projects and carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS).
This year’s World Environment Day theme of land restoration aligns with Cairn’s biodiversity efforts. The company has transformed Ravva in Andhra Pradesh into a vibrant 86-acre wetland, planted 0.2 million trees in Barmer, Rajasthan, and developed 372 acres of mangrove forest along Gujarat’s coast.Dr. Steve Moore, Deputy CEO, stated, “Cairn is proud to lead India’s private sector in environmental stewardship.
