BSF arrests 675 and seizes drugs worth Rs 46 crore in major operation

The Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier has made significant strides in securing the Indo-Bangladesh border, seizing contraband worth over Rs 46 crore and detaining 675 individuals involved in illegal cross-border activities in 2024. In a comprehensive operational report, the BSF outlined the successful seizures, which include 66,316 bottles of Phensedyl, over 9,200 kg of cannabis, more than 600,000 Yaba tablets, and other prohibited goods such as gold, brown sugar, and firearms.

The enforcement actions led to the apprehension of 675 individuals, comprising 620 Bangladeshi nationals, 55 Rohingya migrants, and 260 Indian nationals. In addition, joint operations with state and central agencies resulted in the destruction of 835,800 ganja saplings across 301.31 acres in Tripura.

Apart from enforcement, the BSF has engaged with local communities through 700 village coordination meetings, medical camps, skill development programs, and cultural initiatives. The force also collaborated with Bangladesh’s Border Guards to address bilateral security concerns, ensuring safe passage for Indian nationals amid regional tensions.
