Tripura BJP Mahila Morcha President Mimi Majumder on Thursday accused the Congress party of distorting Indian history by neglecting the contributions of national icons like Punyasloka Rani Ahilyabai Holkar. Speaking at a workshop marking the 300th birth anniversary of the legendary queen, Majumder, who is also a former MLA, said that successive Congress governments politicized education by highlighting only selected figures in school textbooks.
“Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy of justice, temple restoration, and public service was ignored for decades. Our textbooks never gave her the respect she deserved,” Majumder stated. She claimed that the Congress-led governments buried the contributions of such leaders under a “biased historical narrative,” depriving the youth of real inspiration. Majumder credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reviving the stories of lesser-known heroes. “It is empowering for women to finally learn about role models like Rani Ahilyabai, who ruled with compassion and courage,” she said.
The workshop also aimed to inspire women to follow in the footsteps of the revered queen, encouraging leadership, service, and moral strength. “Her life is a guiding light for public leaders and women across the country,” Majumder added.
