Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the home of a BJP worker who died under “mysterious” circumstances in north Kolkata’s Kashipur area on Friday.
The body of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Arjun Chaurasia of Kashipur area was found hanging inside an abandoned building in Ghoshbagan area, police said.
The BJP alleged that the ruling TMC had murdered him, which it denied. A senior state BJP leader said Shah, who is on a two-day visit to the state, will visit Chaurasia’s residence this afternoon.
“He was an efficient party worker. We found him dead this morning. He was part of a bike rally that would be taken out from the Kolkata airport to welcome Amit Shah ji,” said state BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya.
“Shah ji asked us to cancel his grand reception at NSC Bose airport and said he will visit the spot and Chaurasia’s residence,” he added.
The police said that the investigation of the incident has started.
