BJP promotes wellness with yoga training camp in Arunachal

In a vibrant celebration of wellness and environmental stewardship, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit on Saturday, June 15, launched a Yoga training camp at the peaceful Thupten Gatsellinh Monastery (Gompa) in Itanagar. The event was part of the lead-up to International Yoga Day 2025 and also marked 11 years of BJP’s governance and welfare initiatives in the state. Senior BJP leaders, MLAs, and enthusiastic party workers gathered at the monastery to promote yoga as a vital practice for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The session highlighted the growing role of yoga in everyday life and underlined its benefits for personal and community health.

In a unique blend of tradition and responsibility, the event also featured a symbolic tree plantation drive to commemorate Father’s Day. Held under the theme “Ek Ped Darti Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of Mother Earth), the drive sought to honor the nurturing role of fathers by encouraging care for nature. Party workers and attendees planted saplings across the monastery premises as a pledge to protect the environment. The double celebration—of International Yoga Day and Father’s Day—reflected the BJP’s continuing emphasis on health, discipline, and sustainable living. The occasion, organized under the “Seva, Sushasan aur Garib Kalyan ke 11 Saal” banner, served as a reminder of the party’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and healthier Arunachal Pradesh.

Local residents also joined the programme, lending their support to both the yoga camp and the plantation initiative, and reinforcing the collective spirit of community development. The Itanagar Market, usually buzzing with commercial activity, saw many shopkeepers and locals express appreciation for the green initiative, while in places like the Sivasagar Market in Assam, BJP’s campaign for International Yoga Day also found echoes in similar local drives. As Arunachal gears up for International Yoga Day on June 21, the BJP’s initiative in Itanagar is being seen as both a celebration and a call to action—toward personal wellness and environmental responsibility.
