Bishalgarh farmers send premium Queen pineapples to Delhi

In a major boost for Tripura’s horticulture sector, farmers from Bishalgarh subdivision in Sepahijala district have airlifted their first consignment of pineapples to New Delhi, marking a breakthrough in national market access for the state’s prized Queen variety.

The 150-kg consignment, sourced from Baidyardighi, is set to be served to VIPs and international guests, showcasing the premium quality of Tripura’s produce. The effort was made possible through collaboration between a Farmer Producer Company, ICCOA Bangalore, and the Department of Horticulture.

MLA Sushanta Deb, who flagged off the shipment, praised the government’s focus on market linkage, saying earlier farmers had to rely on low-value sales in Assam or across the Bangladesh border. “Now, structured marketing channels are empowering our farmers,” Deb said.
