Biplab Kumar Deb confirms resumption of Agartala-Shillong, Agartala-Aizawl flights

Flight services between Agartala and Shillong, as well as Agartala and Aizawl, are set to resume soon, Tripura Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced on January 10. The move aims to enhance regional connectivity and address passenger concerns at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport.

Deb, who serves as Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, highlighted the ongoing efforts to resolve airport-related issues during a biannual review meeting. “We focus on identifying problems and finding solutions. Issues that can be addressed immediately are resolved on the spot, while others are escalated to the Government of India,” he said. Key discussions during the meeting included increasing flight frequency between Agartala and Delhi, filling vacant stalls impacted by high rental costs, improving lighting systems, and ensuring passenger-friendly facilities.

Deb noted that flights from Agartala to Shillong and Aizawl were operational in the past but were discontinued. Efforts are now underway to restart these services alongside the introduction of a direct flight between Agartala and Delhi. “With all necessary facilities in place, we are optimistic about resuming these critical routes to bolster regional connectivity,” he added.
