Based on CM Saha’s guarantee on Kokborok script, TSF withdrew thei protest

The Twipra Students Federation (TSF) has withdrawn its protest demanding the adoption of the Roman script for the Kokborok language after Chief Minister Manik Saha assured them of addressing the issue. The indigenous student body had been blocking national highways since March 21 to press for their demand.

Following a meeting with the Chief Minister on Sunday, TSF General Secretary Hamalu Jamatia stated that CM Saha acknowledged their concerns and assured them that the matter would be discussed with higher authorities. “We are thankful to the Chief Minister for calling us for discussions. Since we have received his assurance, we are withdrawing our protest for now,” Jamatia said.

The TSF had initially planned to continue their agitation in Agartala on Monday but expressed their willingness for talks with the government. With the CM’s intervention, the student body has now decided to halt further demonstrations, awaiting further action from the state government.
