Bankura Police stirs up controversy by hiring community volunteers as teachers in elementary schools

On Wednesday, the Bankura Police made the “Ankur” project announcement. There are currently 46 schools where civic volunteers will work with elementary school children.

Also, locations where the classes would be held have been marked as community centres.

Since the state police’s primary responsibilities are to uphold law and order, there are allegedly reservations regarding their engagement in educational issues.

When questioned about the situation, Bankura Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Tiwari stated that “Ankur” is a unique effort of the Bankura SP in collaboration with “Nanritam” to provide free coaching to primary school pupils in English and Arithmetic in various locations throughout the district.
