Bamboo and rubber are encouraged to be used by MSMEs and startups in Tripura

The state’s Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in Tripura have been instructed to concentrate on producing goods required for the defense industry utilizing rubber and bamboo. At a one-day awareness event held in Agartala by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC), a Kolkata-based organization, speakers claimed that the northeastern state produces an abundance of the raw materials, rubber and bamboo. Expert in aerospace and defense Balpreet Singh emphasized Tripura’s potential that MSME and startup companies may utilize.

According to him, rubber may also be utilized to make tires, tubes, gloves, uniforms, and other items used in the defense industry. According to Singh, bamboo might be turned into biofuel for use in the aviation and aerospace industries. The state can help the nation’s defense industry, according to S K Majee, Chief Manager of Integrated Material Management (IMM), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). He called on the local MSME, particularly those in the bamboo and rubber sectors, to take the initiative and help the expanding defense industry by grasping growth and development prospects.

Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, a senior official in the defense Investment and Corridor Cell, also spoke on the Center’s efforts to draw in industry and build a local defense industrial ecosystem. The state’s ability to support the nation’s defense transformation was emphasized by Sabyasachi Debbarma, the joint director of the department of industries and commerce. “The state is a great place to manufacture defenses because of its strategic location, skilled workforce, and abundant natural resources like bamboo and rubber,” he said.
