Axis Mutual Fund makes public the results of investor survey on ‘Risk Perception’

Axis Mutual Fund conducted an investor survey to understand risk comprehension among Indian investors. The survey, which received responses from over 1700 Axis MF investors, revealed that 89% of investors believe understanding risk appetite plays a significant role in their investment journey. However, 55% of respondents were not aware of risk-o-meter as a tool to assess mutual fund risk, and 69% were not aware of risk profiler as a tool to assess individual risk.

The survey shows that investors are increasingly aware of the importance of investing in mutual funds, but still consider past performance as a key benchmark. Despite this, many investors still redeem their investments, with 22.2% staying invested for 12-24 months and 48.7% repurchasing within two years. The survey was to receive insights into investors’ attitudes and understanding of risks in mutual fund investing. The survey highlights the importance of understanding each investor’s risk appetite based on their investment profile, financial goal, and needs.

Commenting on the inferences drawn from the survey, B. Gopkumar, MD & CEO, Axis AMC said, “This survey was conducted to get insights on investor’s understanding of risk, and awareness of the tools available to investors to assess risks associated with mutual fund investments.”
