The Mohan Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital on April 17, marking the official start of the organization’s organ transplant program. Vincent Debbarma was named Tripura’s state coordinator as part of the rollout, and he assumed leadership on June 1. He is presently receiving specialized training, and the Foundation’s operations are supported by a unique office space in the hospital.
“To increase its presence in the state, the Foundation plans to hire a second transplant coordinator in the upcoming weeks”, according to an official. In the final week of June, a Foundation team will also hold awareness and training seminars for the physicians and nurses at AGMC and GBP Hospital. In collaboration with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO), Tripura, a steering committee is being established to oversee and direct the program’s execution. This organization will supervise operations and promote routine transplant procedures among medical experts around the state. He stated that the collaboration with the Mohan Foundation, a Chennai-based organization, will greatly improve Tripura’s organ donation procedure.
