Assault on TTE at Tripura Railway Station leads to arrest of three women

Tripura’s Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three women for assaulting a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), Atul Kaushik, at Manu Railway Station in Dhalai District. The incident, which occurred a month ago, stemmed from a dispute over illegal banana transportation. The accused, identified as Rubina Chakma (21), Rajnamukhi Chakma (30), and Bina Chakma (35), were caught after video footage of the assault surfaced. According to police, the women were using passenger trains to transport bananas illegally. When confronted by Kaushik and fined ₹3,000, tensions escalated, leading to a violent altercation.

Kaushik sustained severe injuries and required immediate medical attention. Following the incident, he lodged a formal complaint with the GRP, prompting an investigation. “The arrests were made based on video evidence, but several suspects remain at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend them,” a police official stated.

The case highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring railway safety and curbing the misuse of passenger trains for illegal activities. Authorities have pledged to take stringent action against those involved.
