Ace sprinter Hima Das, one of Assam’s most talented athletes, was admitted to a private hospital in the Khanapara neighborhood of Guwahati on Friday because of health concerns. According to the doctors, Das had a fever and cough. Known as the “Dhing Express,” the state’s athletic community exhaled with relief when hospital director Parag Dutta reassured them that Das’s condition was stable and there was no reason to worry. For precautionary reasons, the physicians have chosen to keep her under observation. Dr. Bhavani Prasad Chakrabarty is in charge of Das’s admission to the high dependency unit (HDU).
Her condition is also being continuously monitored by a group of specialists who are giving her the care she needs. “We are looking into the situation. We will move forward after we address the core of the issue,” Dutta stated. The director added that Das had arrived in Guwahati on Friday afternoon after traveling from Mumbai. She felt weak shortly after arriving and made the quick decision to get help, arriving at the hospital at approximately 5:00 p.m. “The medical staff evaluated her health upon entry and administered first aid right away. She was moved to the HDU for specialized treatment once it was determined that she needed more close observation after she had been stabilized,” he continued.
