On Friday, Assam government has announced about signing peace accord with the United Liberation Front of Asom, ULFA in the presence of the centre.
According to the sources, the government will sign tripartite peace accord with the ULFA, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with the pro-talks of ULFA.
Also to some reports it said, ULFA led by Paresh Baruah will not be part of the agreement as he has been consistently rejecting the olive branch offered by the government. However, the aim of the accord is to end insurgency in the northeastern state and take care of long-standing political, economic and social issues concerning Assam.
