Assam Rifles sends defamation notice to Manipur politician

During a meeting, paramilitary force accused Manipur politician Thounaojam for his derogatory comment towards the force for performing their duty in the violence hit state to restrain peace, security between the communities there.    

Earlier, the Assam Rifles have sought a written and public apology from Maheshwar Thounaojam, the national secretary of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), for the statements he made at the “Condolence of Meitei Martyrs” in Delhi on June 30.

According to the Manipuri politician, paramilitary forces are helping the Kuki militants. The Assam Rifles said that Thounaojam’s remarks have caused considerable harm to the reputation and standing of the paramilitary force before the public.

Due to which, Assam Rifle have issued a legal notice for such false remark against the Manipuri Politician Thounaojam.
