On Thursday, the Assam Police rescued seven people, including a woman with her son from a house in Kamrup district where they were kept before being smuggled to Punjab.
According to sources, they all came to Guwahati in search of jobs. According to the police, they were all promised to find jobs in Punjab by a man named Zakir Ali.
Besides, a case has been registered against Jakir Ali in Rangiya police station. Also, earlier in 2020 a case was filed against him for human trafficking.
According to reports, the family was from Jharkhand.
