This year, Assam proudly enters Guinness World record. On Thursday, Assam officially received Guinness World record for online hand written articles.
The event took place at Guwahati. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hands over the world recorder, named Swapnil Dangarikar.
The world record was for nearly 4.3 million essays written on the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan as part of the state government’s year-long celebration of his 400th birth anniversary.
Starting from October 26 to November 26, 2022 there was an essay held online and many participated within Assam and outside.
“Assamese people complain of Lachit not getting enough recognition outside the state. But when we held his 400th birth celebrations in New Delhi in November last year, people there asked us why we didn’t speak out about him earlier,” Sarma said.
