Assam DGP meets Islamic organizations

Several madrassas in the state have been destroyed in the crackdown on terrorism, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant on Sunday met various Islamic organizations across the state and sought their support and cooperation to destroy such terrorist modules.

The meeting comes after several arrests in Assam for alleged links to terrorist groups Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

DGP Mahanta said, “Today, we met with Islamic organizations across the state. Without their cooperation, we couldn’t bust Al-Qaeda and ABT modules in the state. We urged them to extend their support, and cooperation and they assured us of their support,”.

DGP Mahant noted that they had asked all private madrasas of state to ‘upload their rules online.

He mentioned, “There are 1,000 private madrasas in the state. All of them operate according to different rules according to their beliefs. We have asked all of them to take some time to upload their rules online.”
