Assam CM seeks public input for polygamy law

On Monday, Assam government has sought its people view about what they think about a proposed law to abolish polygamy in the state.

Assam Chief Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a photo of the public notice on X, formerly known as Twitter regarding Polygamy. He wrote, “Members of the public are requested to send us their suggestions on the proposed law to ban polygamy in Assam.”

According to the sources, the notice was issued by Principal Secretary of the Home and Political Department.

The department has asked people to send their reviews regarding the law through emails or post till date August 30, 2023.

Assam Chief Minister Himianta Biswa Sarma has also shared the ID in the post where people can give their reviews.

The Assam Government has formed an expert committee on August 6 to examine the legislative competence to enact the law in the state, Assam.
