A British Muslim financial analyst who was under the influence of radical Islamist doctrine was found guilty of several terrorism-related offences after police discovered deadly bomb-making designs on his laptop. Following Asad Bhatti’s arrest and subsequent charges in January 2021, a search of a nearby house turned up a crude bomb-making factory. Asad Bhatti is from Redhill in Surrey, which is in southeast England. According to Surrey Police, the 49-year-old man, who is of South Asian descent, was found guilty on two counts of carrying a weapon for terrorist purposes in violation of Section 57 of the UK Terrorism Act 2000.
