Arunachal Pradesh Suspends IAS Officer Himanshu Nigam Over Frontier Highway Land Irregularities

The Government of India has suspended IAS officer Himanshu Nigam over alleged irregularities in the land acquisition for the Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway project in Arunachal Pradesh. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the order on November 17, 2025, initiating disciplinary proceedings against Nigam, a 2021-batch IAS officer who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng. The allegations pertain to the compensation payments under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The suspension was enacted under Rule 3(1) of the All-India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969. Nigam will remain stationed in Arunachal Pradesh during his suspension and will receive a subsistence allowance, conditional on him not engaging in other employment.
