The occasion of Independence Day is beyond a holiday mark on the calendar for entrepreneurs. Financial freedom and the opportunity to make a difference to the world are most important to them. Being an entrepreneur is also a liberating experience. Arman Kabir, a hotel owner, started his journey with nothing and through years of hard work and dedication, he became financially independent at the age of 35. A graduate from Magadh University, he initially worked in a marketing team. He also briefly worked as a Bengali translator at a hotel in Ajmer, helping with day-to-day operations. His first-hand experience with the hospitality sector gave him the courage to open his hotel.
Arman approached OYO Hotels & Homes, and in the year 2018, with their help opened his first hotel, that has been running successfully since then. Arman, owner of OYO 10471 Hotel Samrat Palace, says, “Having the freedom and flexibility in the work-life schedule motivated me to start my own hotel. I come from a very humble background, and it was very challenging to realise my dreams. While working in Gurugram, I had the opportunity to interact with people from diverse fields and got to learn a lot about starting a business. When I came across OYO’s team, I started understanding the nitty-gritty of effectively running a hotel and could feel my dreaming coming true. After months of hard work, I finally opened my first hotel in 2018. Given the pandemic, my team and I have implemented the necessary sanitisation protocols and ensuring that all guests continue to have a safe stay with OYO. My hotel has also been updated with the ‘Sanitised Stays’ tag which is a step towards reassuring our guests.”
Arman had to work his way through multiple hurdles to finally achieve success. Now that he has a hotel in Kolkata, Arman is working hard to deliver a seamless and sanitised experience to all his guests. His transition from a corporate career to that of being an entrepreneur resonates strongly with the idea of achieving freedom in its true sense. Owing to the success of Hotel Samrat, Arman has already begun working towards launching his next hotel.
