Anganwadi centres launched in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Sunday rolled out nearly 1,000 model Anganwadi centres built across the state and said 15,000 such units would be built by 2026.

Inaugurating a center program organized at the playground of Arabic Higher Secondary School under Palashbari Assembly constituency, Mr. Sarma said that this model Anganwadi center would fulfill the hopes and aspirations of parents living in remote areas of the state.Building an anganwadi center should be considered as important as building a new medical or engineering college because it is from these centers that tomorrow’s doctors and engineers will emerge, said Mr. Sarma.
The Chief Minister also launched the ‘Adopt an Anganwadi’ portal, aimed at providing a platform to philanthropists, NGOs and citizens through which they can contribute to the welfare of society by adopting the full or partial cost of an Anganwadi center.
