Ambuja Cements, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, has restored a key connecting road between Tharvelangso and Borolokhindong villages in Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, significantly improving rural connectivity in the area. The initiative involved the restoration of a 2.5 km stretch that had severely deteriorated over the years, making travel difficult for local residents and affecting mobility, safety and livelihoods. The poor condition of the road had created challenges for daily commuting, access to essential services and the transportation of agricultural produce.
Responding to the needs of the community, the Adani Foundation undertook critical patchwork restoration work to improve the road and ensure smoother movement for villagers. With the improved infrastructure, residents can now experience safer and more reliable travel throughout the year. Schoolchildren are able to commute more comfortably, villagers can access nearby services more efficiently, and farmers can transport their produce to markets with greater ease.
Around 157 villagers are now benefiting from the improved connectivity, which has strengthened access to essential services and market linkages.
