In a significant boost to air travel, IndiGo Airlines has announced the doubling of its flight services between Aizawl, Mizoram’s capital, and Delhi, effective October 5. The low-cost carrier has increased its weekly flights from five to ten, aiming to improve connectivity for passengers. The expanded service will feature daily flights, with additional operations scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, allowing greater flexibility for travelers, as confirmed by an official statement on Sunday.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the expanded flight operations at Lengpui Airport near Aizawl, personally distributing boarding passes to passengers. Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and IndiGo for their responsiveness to his request for increased frequency, Lalduhoma highlighted the significance of this development. “The additional flights will not only enhance air transportation but also strengthen Mizoram’s connectivity with the rest of India, fostering economic, cultural, and social integration,” he said.
IndiGo’s Special Director, R.K. Singh, emphasized that this decision was made to stimulate economic growth and enhance socio-cultural ties between Mizoram and the broader nation.
