The Aizawl City Beautification Project, part of the Lammual Master Plan, was initiated with the laying of its foundation stone by Chief Minister Lalduhoma at Heritage Court. The ceremony, attended by various dignitaries, emphasized community involvement in land use planning, with decisions reflecting public input. The project aims to enhance central Aizawl as a multi-functional recreational space suitable for children, youth, and the elderly. Various development initiatives include constructing a new road, improving existing roads, and establishing key facilities like a new Vanapa Hall, a power substation, parks, and an amphitheatre, with Rs 23 crore allocated for road development and Rs 13 crore for beautification efforts. Preparatory works have begun following the transfer of the former Assam Rifles land to the Mizoram government. The architectural design for new structures will be selected through a competitive process, with expectations of results by May 29, 2025.
