Air India Express has announced the addition of Agartala to its rapidly expanding domestic network, marking its 46th destination. The airline launched five new routes on Sunday, including daily direct flights from Agartala to Guwahati and Kolkata, as well as Hyderabad to Guwahati, Bengaluru to Vijayawada, and Bengaluru to Indore.
With Agartala now on its map, Air India Express strengthens its presence in the Northeast, offering seamless connectivity to major cities like Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru through one-stop flights. The airline’s entry into Agartala is expected to stimulate economic growth and tourism in Tripura.
Kolkata stands to gain significantly from this expansion, as Air India Express now operates 124 weekly flights from the city, connecting directly to 12 destinations, including Agartala. This increased connectivity not only enhances Kolkata’s role as a key aviation hub but also boosts trade and travel links with northeastern states, further integrating them into the broader national economy.
