Two students from Agartala have secured top international ranks in the 2023-24 Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) exams, highlighting the city’s growing educational prowess. Saatatya Das, a fourth-grader from Sri Krishna Mission School, achieved international rank-1 in the International English Olympiad, earning an international gold medal and a merit certificate. Archisman Debnath, a first-grader from Holy Cross School, secured International Mathematics Rank-2, receiving an international silver medal and a merit certificate.
The awards ceremony, held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, witnessed participation from lakhs of students across 70 countries. Dignitaries like former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra, and renowned author Chetan Bhagat graced the event. Justice Misra emphasized the relentless nature of competition and the importance of time management for achieving success, while Bhagat highlighted the irreplaceable value of human creativity in the age of AI.
SOF’s founder, Mahabir Singh, celebrated 26 years of Olympiad excellence, announcing initiatives like the International Hindi Olympiad and scholarships for deserving students. The event honored top-performing students, teachers, and principals with monetary awards and recognitions, reinforcing SOF’s commitment to fostering global academic talent.
