Agartala Government Dental College expands BDS seats from 50 to 63

The Ministry of Health has approved an increase in seat capacity for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at Agartala Government Dental College, raising the intake from 50 to 63 for the academic session 2025-26.

In a letter to the Principal of Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital, the Secretary of the Government of India, Amit Kumar, confirmed the Central Government’s permission for the seat expansion, initially valid for one year. The approval will be renewed annually, subject to the verification of the institution’s progress.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed gratitude on Facebook, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for the move. He highlighted that the expansion will provide more opportunities for aspiring dental students in the state.
