The Arunachal Democratic Party (ADP) merged with the Indian National Congress (INC) during a mass induction ceremony in Arunachal Pradesh. ADP president Tami Pangu cited ideological alignment with the Congress’s commitment to democracy and constitutional values as the reason for the merger. The ADP had no representation in the state Assembly, where the Congress has one MLA. Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Bosiram Siram welcomed the new members, promising equal opportunities within the party. Pangu emphasized that the move is aimed at safeguarding democratic institutions and addressing key state issues, such as Article 371(H) and illegal mining. The leaders cited governance crises like unemployment and corruption as urgent concerns. They expressed gratitude to former Chief Minister Gegong Apang and credited the Congress leadership under AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for their transition. The new members pledged to focus on governance, transparency, and inclusive development in the state.
