Aditya Birla Education Trust’s initiative, Ujaas, aims to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene in Assam. Guided by Founder Ms. Advaitesha Birla, Ujaas is collaborating with local NGO Glad Bharat Foundation to launch its first phase, focusing on adolescent girls and women, aiming for positive change and empowerment.
This strategic partnership signifies the initiation of a year-long campaign, showcasing Ujaas’ unwavering commitment to work closely with the community. The Ujaas team is promoting menstrual health and hygiene awareness in the region by conducting age-appropriate sessions and distributing sanitary napkins to local communities, aiming to dismantle taboos and encourage positive conversations.
The ‘Ujaas Menstrual Health Express’ is a unique initiative in India, covering 25 states and 107 cities. The specially designed Menstrual Health Express Van will navigate diverse regions and communities, engaging with local NGOs to learn about menstruation cultures, practices, and beliefs. Ujaas is partnering with local NGOs to distribute over 250,000 menstrual pads nationwide, demonstrating its commitment to addressing menstrual health issues, empowering women, and fostering positive community impact. Ms. Advaitesha Birla, Founder of Ujaas emphasised, “In the state of Assam, we have reached out to schools, hostels, government run colleges and local communities driving awareness for menstrual health and hygiene through informative age appropriate awareness workshops delivered by trained professionals.
