Adani Group yoga instructor sets Guinness World Record for difficult center split

Smita Kumari, the in-house yoga instructor, for last four years, with the healthcare department at the Adani Group, set a world record for holding the center split – (Samakonasana, Yoga) – pose for a record 3 hours 10 minutes and 12 seconds. Recently, she set a record in Ahmedabad, receiving a certificate from Guinness World Records and presented by Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani.

Smita, a healthcare head, was thrilled when Healthcare Head Doctor Pankajkumar Doshi informed the Chairman, Gautam Adani, about the certificate. She met with leaders like Rajesh Adani, Managing Director of Adani Group, and Pranav Adani, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL).

Ranchi-based Smita has set a world record in maintaining the center split position, a challenging sub-routine in disciplines like yoga, ballet, dance, gymnastics, and martial arts. She applied for the Guinness World Records last year and faced challenges like registration, paperwork, and fees. Adani Sportsline, along with an in-house physiotherapist and dietician, helped Smita plan her journey meticulously until the event day. Smita joined AEL in 2019 as a professional yoga instructor, Smita Kumari said, “This move proved a life-changing experience for me. I even found a family in my colleagues”.
